Vision, mission and goals of the internal medicine branch
Objectives:
The Department of Internal Medicine at the Al Zahraa College of Medicine at University of Basra aims to prepare students for their future role as responsible doctors and custodians of people's lives and health scientifically and ethically through:
1. Training students on basic clinical skills, which represent the basic element in patient care and providing health service to them, which includes introducing students to methods of communicating with patients, taking disease history, clinical examination and developing a map of potential diagnosis and treatment plan.
2. Providing students with scientific theoretical and specialized medical knowledge in internal medicine diseases, which represents a large and important section in the study of human medicine.
3. Helping students to develop personal capabilities that enable them to acquire information and use clinical experiences in diagnosing and treating various disease cases, especially emergency and critical cases, in a manner that guarantees the patient’s safety and optimal care, as well as preserving the patient’s dignity and privacy.
Vision:
1. The development of health care in Iraq by providing a standard model for health services and introducing the qualities and qualifications of the clinician based on international and local standards, which guarantee the safety and rights of the patient.
2. Using modern clinical medical teaching curricula and methods to ensure a high level of teaching and knowledge acquisition by students.
3. Striving to develop scientific clinical medical research and making it a cornerstone of medical study and moving towards adopting its application at all levels.
