Under the patronage of the President of the University of Basra, the respected Professor Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, and the Dean of Al-Zahraa College of Medicine, the respected Professor Dr. Mazen Hawaz Abdel-Rida.
The Surgery and Physiology Branch, under the supervision of the Continuing Education Unit at Al-Zahraa College of Medicine, held a symposium on early breast cancer screening and its impact on women. Lecturers: Prof. Wissam Hamza Abbas (Consultant General Surgery) and MD. Ansam Munadil Hussein (Neurophysiology specialty) on Wednesday, 10/24/2023, at Al-Zahraa College of Medicine - Bab Al-Zubair Colleges Complex

During the symposium, I discussed the most prominent possible preventive and therapeutic aspects of cancer and all stages of diagnosis, emphasizing the importance of monthly periodic self-examination for early detection with the aim of treatment in the early stages of the disease before it reaches advanced stages of spread, as this is an essential factor to ensure safety and limit the exacerbation of the disease. This is done by conducting early and periodic examination, as it is one of the most common diseases in women, at a rate of 95%, compared to 5% in men.

During the symposium, the special protocol for conducting breast self-examination, the warning signs and symptoms, and the possible causes of infection with this disease were presented. The symposium concluded with the most important and latest therapeutic methods used to treat the disease, including surgical, chemical, and biological treatments.
