The Head of the Surgery Branch, Professor Dr. Faleh Wahid Hashem, participated in the student discussion committee (Hussein Ahmed Abdel Samad)  Surgical Board of the Iraqi Board of Medical Specialties for his thesis entitled “Complications of the musculoskeletal system in the upper extremities among dialysis patients” in the study hall at Basra Teaching Hospital

The study aimed to know the types, rates, and severity of complications that occur in the upper extremities of patients suffering from kidney failure and the treatment methods used in the dialysis center.
The study recommended the necessity of conducting periodic examination of the upper extremities of patients with kidney failure for early detection and treatment of potential complications affecting the musculoskeletal system in dialysis patients.
After the results matched and the study was accepted, the student was granted a doctorate in orthopedic and traumatology surgery with a good grade
