The study summarized the comparison results of surgical grafting between the tarsal cartilage patch and the temporal fascia patch, as the latter is the most widely used patch for repairing eardrum perforations with a high success rate, but it is not ideal for use in cases of high-risk eardrum perforations. Therefore, the earcartilage patch has become more accepted for this purpose. Cases due to their solidity and resistance to cases of tympanic retraction and re-perforation. The study included patients suffering from a perforated middle eardrum (due to chronic otitis media of the mucous type or external severity) after distributing them to the temporal fascia group or the ear cartilage group for a comparative study in improving the condition of the patients.
After discussion, the study was accepted and the student was granted specialization in ear, nose and throat surgery by the Iraqi Board of Medical Specialties.
