Al-Zahraa College of Medicine has a community health project, "Listening Ear," to spread health awareness within the community.

Project Name: Community Health Awareness Project "Listening Ear"

Our Mission: A health-aware community

Our Vision: To help create a well-informed community in Basra with ongoing medical and health information, leading to a reduction in disease rates and government health expenditure.

Project Objectives:

  • Increase health awareness among school children.
  • Highlight the most common diseases in the community to promote prevention.
  • Enhance health literacy and develop first-aid concepts for individuals in state institutions in the province.
  • Raise awareness about the importance of early disease detection.
  • Educate the community on the importance of a healthy diet, risks of obesity, and dangers of smoking.
  • Emphasize the risks of environmental pollution in all areas of the province and contribute to finding solutions to these environmental issues.
  • Educate the community on the role of doctors and healthcare workers, fostering respect and reducing incidents of violence against them.
  • Submit accurate scientific reports to responsible institutions to help avoid potential health issues in the province.

Project Description: Nothing is more important nowadays than raising public awareness about the importance of health and the factors that contribute to a healthy lifestyle. Al-Zahraa College of Medicine is proud of its dedicated staff and distinguished students who contribute to the community’s well-being through the "Listening Ear" project.

The "Listening Ear" project, adopted by Al-Zahraa College of Medicine at the University of Basra, does not replace the dedicated efforts of the health departments in the province. Instead, it aims to support their efforts by fostering a new generation that cares about public and personal health. We present this project to you to address the need for health awareness through posters, publications, and interactive lectures in Basrah.
