Vision, Mission and Objectives - Microbiology

Vision

The department contributes to preparing distinguished doctors in knowing the microscopic pathogens of bacteria, fungi, parasites, and viruses, and the relationship with the human body and interaction of the body with them in terms of immunity. All these are based on the integrative curriculum. The curriculum count on lectures based on the student learn to center and small group sessions based on students' discussions. This way makes the student able to gain long live learning and able to work in a team.

Mission

1) Upgrading and diversifying university studies and providing its various requirements.
2) Preparing the faculty and researchers required by the higher education and scientific research sector and those with specializations
The professional and practical needs of the state departments and their various institutions are in line with the requirements of higher education in Iraq.
3) Preparing highly qualified specialists to obtain higher diplomas, masters, and doctorates
To meet the needs of the labor market.
4) Work to deepen the balance between the progress of the theoretical sciences and the applied aspects of it.
5) Thinking about future health, social, economic, and scientific problems, and visualizing remote needs and work
On finding solutions.
6) Taking care to guide students and choose the best means to expand their activities and deepen their scientific and professional specializations within
The development plan and the country's need and the development of innovation, creativity, and initiative they have.
7) Providing scientific and technical advisory services to the state and its various institutions and other sectors.
8) Working on linking postgraduate studies with the interim needs of development plans and contributing to setting proposals and controls to solve them.
9) Working on identifying the topics of scientific dissertations and dissertations for all postgraduate studies to ensure scientific solutions to health and social problems.

Objectives

The microbiology branch contributes to the preparation of distinguished doctors in the knowledge of the microscopic pathogens of bacteria, fungi, parasites, and viruses, and their relationship to the human body and the body's interaction with it and other immune stimuli through integrative approaches that they study with the rest of the scientific subjects. The branch is also distinguished by its modern curricula, as it is unique in teaching the subject of molecules, genes and the diseases associated with them.

The branch relies on modern curricula that adopt the integrative approach, as it depends primarily on the student’s knowledge of scientific facts through lectures given by professors specializing in scientific topics and develops his skills in facing clinical cases and finding solutions to them through the time of discussions in small groups. The new curriculum of the branch also provides a great opportunity to reduce differences between students by creating an exciting spirit of cooperation and teamwork.

The branch also achieves weekly meetings in which the preparation of lectures and small groups is discussed, and it is thoroughly familiarized with the scientific material because we believe that the scientific information should reach the student in an ideal manner agreed upon among specialists. The branch also follows the method of attending the branch’s staff or some of them to the lectures given by the branch’s teachers to the students as a kind of motivation for the teaching and to give the student a true picture of the teamwork that they should have in their scientific and practical future.

In order for the branch to reach its goal of the student’s knowledge of the scientific facts found in the curriculum in a distinctive way, the branch conducts a number of assessment exams in which the degree is not calculated, but rather to clarify the weaknesses and strengths in the student’s knowledge. The branch also achieves every year an evaluation conference in which it shows the achievements and obstacles that the college tries with all its energy to find effective solutions to them if any.

During the next few years, the branch seeks to establish specialized research units to study the spread of endemic and transmissible microbial diseases to contribute to limiting their spread in our dear country.
