Overview:

The biochemistry department is one of the clinical departments that was established along with the establishment of Alzahraa College of medicine in 2017. The aim of this department is to teach clinical biochemistry to undergraduate students and participate in ‎research and advisory work for other departments in ‎the College of Medicine. In addition to that, the biochemistry department has research activities that are involved in solving the common health problems in our ‎‎localities and providing biochemical ‎knowledge to reinforce these types of research in Basra and ‎Iraq in general.

Vision:

The vision of the biochemistry department is to be a recognized and distinguished unit in the field ‎‎of biochemistry and clinical biochemistry in Basrah and in Iraq as a whole, by providing ‎excellent ‎teaching skills for medical students.

Mission

The main function of the biochemistry department is:

1. Teaching biochemistry and clinical biochemistry for undergraduate students.

2. Participating in the staff of the department in ‎research and advisory work to other departments in ‎the College of Medicine.

3. The department has research activities that are involved in solving the common health problems in our ‎‎localities and providing the biochemical ‎knowledge that reinforces these types of research in Basra and ‎Iraq in general.
