Dean of Al-Zahraa College of Medicine, Chairman of the committee discussing the student (Rehab Khalil Amin) to obtain the specialty of ear, nose and throat surgery in the Iraqi Council for Medical Specialties

The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Al-Zahraa, Professor Dr. Mazen Hawaz Abdel-Rida Al-Muharam, chaired the discussion committee of the student (Rehab Khalil Amin), a student of the Scientific Council for the specialty of ear, nose and throat surgery, the fourth stage, about her research entitled (Causes and treatment of patients who suffer from failure of the dacryocystorhinostomy).

The study was summarized by presenting the causes of dacryocystorhinostomy, which is formed due to obstruction of the tear ducts (DCR). It is diagnosed by diagnosing the obstruction of the tear duct responsible for draining the lacrimal sac, which prevents tears from draining away from the lacrimal sac to the nose. Thus, painful swelling near the inner corner of the eye or irritation, recurrent infection, inflammation in the tear duct, and secretion of mucus or pus from the eyelids and surface of the eye that lead to swelling of the eyelids. The student discussed surgical treatment to open the tear drainage passage again through the nose, methods of following up the patient, and necessary treatments after the operation.


After discussion, the study was accepted and the student was granted specialization in ear, nose and throat surgery by the Iraqi Board of Medical Specialties.
