Al-Zahraa College of Medicine hosted the University of Basra Chess Championship, with the participation of students from various colleges, in a distinguished competitive atmosphere aimed at enhancing strategic thinking and developing mental skills among students.
The championship was held under the supervision and follow-up of Professor Dr. Mazen Hawaz Abdul Redha, Dean of Al-Zahraa College of Medicine, and with close follow-up by Professor Dr. Haitham Hussein Ali, Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, to ensure the smooth running of the competitions and the provision of all necessary logistical requirements.
The championship witnessed wide participation from students who competed with high sportsmanship, while the matches were organized according to international chess standards. The organizers of the championship stressed the importance of organizing such events in creating a university environment that stimulates creativity and critical thinking, and strengthens ties between students from different disciplines.
At the end of the competitions, prizes were distributed to the winners in the presence of a number of members of the championship's administrative body, amid widespread praise for the level of organization and success achieved by the championship.
