A lecturer at Al-Zahraa College of Medicine supervises a postgraduate student at the Southern Technical University

Dr. Raja Ahmed Mahmoud, from Al-Zahraa college of medicine, supervises one of the graduate students at the Southern Technical University as a second supervisor from the University of Basra, on a date, where a master’s thesis was discussed for one of the students of the Faculty of Graduate Studies at the Southern Technical University and tagged (the study of diarrhea in children under the age of five from Age during the COVID-19 pandemic in Basra) on 2-9-2021.

The study aimed to identify the pattern of diarrheal diseases among children under the age of five during the Corona pandemic while identifying the pathogens of diarrhea in hospitalized children.

The thesis presented by the student (Facilitator Mazhar Abdullah) in the Community Health Technologies Program dealt with studying, analyzing and collecting data through three methods: asking questions directly to mothers and taking data from the Public Health Department, and the third method, where the statistics of the examination laboratory record were taken. Discharge in hospitalized children.

The study showed that 34.25% of children under the age of five suffer from diarrhea during the previous two weeks, with an increase in the incidence of diarrhea among children aged under one year. Respiratory diseases are considered a risk factor for diarrhea in children, and the rate of diarrhea increases in children during the months of November and December of the year.

The study recommendations included focusing on health education for mothers about health prevention from the causes of diarrhea with the importance of vaccination against rotavirus, in addition to taking effective health measures to prevent the spread of diarrhea causes from one person to another.
