Iraq Ranks First in the Arab World and Seventh Globally, with the University of Basrah Leading Iraqi Universities in the Times Higher Education Rankings 2024
For the fourth consecutive year, the University of Basrah has topped the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2024, securing the first place nationally, followed by the University of Al-Mustaqbal and the University of Baghdad. These advanced positions have propelled Iraq to the first rank in the Arab world and seventh globally among 125 countries.
This year, sixty-two Iraqi universities and colleges entered the rankings, achieving competitive positions in the 2024 edition of the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, which included 2,152 educational institutions from 125 countries. The official results indicated that the University of Basrah ranked within the 401-600 bracket globally, followed by the University of Al-Mustaqbal (601-800), and the University of Baghdad (601-800).
It is worth noting that the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings assess universities based on their achievements in a number of the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals, including quality education, health and well-being, partnerships, industry, and innovation.
